Troubleshooting ShowCase Problems - Frequently Asked Questions for Patients given CDs with ShowCase Viewers

Problem: PATIENTS who have been given CDs or DVDs of their Obstetric (or other) exam and want to print the pictures or save them on their home computer disk.

Most ShowCase CD/DVD viewers are designed for referring physicians. They are read-only and do not include print or export features. However, you can easily print the images (not at medical quality) in either of these 2 ways:

-- Printing from Microsoft Word
1- While viewing in ShowCase, click on the image to select it (It will have a yellow border) and copy it to the clipboard (Ctrl-C or use the Edit->Copy menu option)
2- Paste the image into a Word document
3- Print the Word document

--- Print using a Screen Capture
1- In ShowCase, double-click on the image you want to print.
2- Copy the Image to the clipboard by holding down the Alt key and clicking Prt Scrn
3- Paste the image into a graphics program like Paint (Start Menu / All Programs / Accessories / Paint)
4- Save or print the image from the graphics program.

Problem: PATIENTS who have been given CDs or DVDs of their Obstetric (or other) exam cannot view them on their home PC - various strange error messages including "Source and Destination are the same...", "Cannot register ActiveX Control", etc.

1- If you have a Mac -- Sorry, but ShowCase is a Windows application that does not run native on a Mac. (We are told that it can run with emulator software like "Parallels".)

2- If you have a Vista or Win 7 PC -- Some physicians still have old versions of our ShowCase CD Viewer software that are not Vista/ Win 7 compatible and need to run on an XP system. If you cannot access an XP system, you can download a 30 day trial of our installed software and install it on your PC. It will expire in 30 days.

You might tell your provider that their CD/DVD Viewer software should be updated from their ultrasound or PACS equipment manufacturer.
