Troubleshooting Tips

Burning CDs and DVDs
You can burn CDs and DVDs with an
optional Onboard Viewer if you have
ShowCase Premier. (This feature is not included in ShowCase Basic).
There are User Guides available for
both writing CDs/DVDs (Windows XP and
Vista for CDs and Win 7/8 for CDs/DVDs)
using the Windows
integrated CD Write Wizard and for
writing CDs and DVDs
using 3rd party burn software
(Nero for example).
There is no
Burn CD/DVD button on the Study
Lists Window.
Solution: If you don't have a
Burn Button at all then you are running
ShowCase Basic or ShowCase Onboard--
software that does not include the
CD/DVD burning feature. You will need to
upgrade to
ShowCase Premier.
The
Burn Now button is disabled in the
CD Burn dialog.
Solution: Your PC is not set up for
integrated CD burning. Possibly your
operating system is not XP, Vista, or
Win 7 and
so does not support integrated CD
writing. Or your integrated writing may
have been disabled. This can often be
fixed with a simple setting:
Double-click on “My Computer” and then
right-click on your CD drive and select
“Properties”, then click on the
“Recording” tab. Make sure this box is
checked:

Rare
problem: If you have XP, Vista, or Win 7 and a
CD recorder but no "Recording" tab, have
an IT professional check the information
-

A CD
or DVD was created with ShowCase but the
viewer does not launch automatically
when inserted into a PC.
Solution 1 - CD or DVD: The PC may not
be configured to autorun applications
from CDs or DVDs. In this case, browse to the
disk
and double-click on file called Show_Studies. (This information is
included in the README file on the CD or
DVD.)
Solution 2 - DVD or CD burned from a staging folder:
If you have burned from a staging
folder, but the viewer does not run
automatically, OR if the onboard viewer
runs but no studies are listed, please
make sure that you burned the ENTIRE
contents of the staging folder to the
DVD. If you show the DVD contents in an
Explorer window (Double-click on “My
Computer”, then click on your DVD drive)
you should see this:

If none of these files and folders are
shown, check to see if you have a
mismatch between the folder you are
using in ShowCase and the folder you are
using with your DVD burn software.
If some of the files are missing, check
your DVD burning project again and add
these files. ALL of the files and
folders listed above must be present for
the ShowCase Onboard Viewer to function
properly.
IF THE PC IS A WINDOWS 8 machine
and it does not have ShowCase or many
other applications installed, it may be
missing a component that used to be part
of Windows operating systems (the .Net
Framework 2.0 or 3.5). If that is the
case
-- In an
Explorer Window, navigate to your CD/DVD
to display the contents.
-- Go inside
the folder Viewer/Vista Viewer and
double-click on

This will
launch the correct ShowCase Viewer for
your PC. Your computer may then give you
a link to follow to install the missing
component (the .Net 3.5 or 2.0
Framework)
