Traditional PACS systems are expensive and cannot always meet the needs of ultrasound environments.

ShowCase can manage medical images for small clinics that do not need all of the features of a full PACS and do need to view multi-frame clips at full acquisition quality and playback speed.

A typical small clinic product configuration has a high end computer that runs ShowCase with the Connect option and serves as the image repository. This machine receives studies sent over a DICOM network from ultrasound machines or a PACS. ShowCase Connect stores the images to the image repository on a local disk drive.  

ShowCase Premier or ShowCase Basic installed on other PCs on the office network can display the images in the repository over the network, allowing physicians in other offices to review imaging studies.

ShowCase is a low cost product without a central database for auto-archive or archive tracking; Sites using ShowCase for image management should develop a sound image management workflow that includes an appropriate archive policy.
